FAQ
I am not ready to accept my inconsistencies, my responsibilities or my utter lack of credibility. But I am willing to try to live with that.
I'm Ilana, I'm 17, I live in Boston, I wear jackets with shoulder pads and high waist jeans. I'm obsessed with hands. I am a Boston Tea Party Libertarian.
Relearning Hebrew has been extremely rewarding so far. My friends are all proud of me and impressed by my progress, I can read again and my vocabulary is growing. I can’t wait to land at the airport because my friends are picking me up and helping me get my apartment set up. Some bonds last forever!
Things I must do in Israel:
- Go to everyone’s last day of high school. Except Michal.
- Have a girls’ day at the beach… or a month.
- Shop a lot.
- Speak like a local (maybe a little better).
- Learn some Arabic!
- Attend all the parties as an annoying satellite girlfriend (one invite down).
- Buy a thousand and one spices.
- Improve my shakshuka recipe.
- Spend a few months in bed.
- Finally figure out my army status? Being a born and bred Israeli is serious business.
- Pass all my tests and get into medical school.
- Sight see like a tourist… with a bunch of whiny locals.
- Teach everyone how to party.
- Make friends.
- Go clubbing.
- Use my bartending skills.
- Save up so I can go to Europe for New Years!
- Smile.
- Stay out of trouble.
- Play videogames.
- Expose Dor to Star Trek and Star Wars because he’s not a human.
- Dress Dor up as a Wookie.
- Visit Elad.
- Potentially kidnap Meital.
- Try not to get fat.
- Be happy (I’m home)!
